ChatGPT gets a new "automated assistant": schedule reminders, monitor the web and apps for you

On 17/06/2026, OpenAI launched Scheduled Tasks in ChatGPT — on both web and mobile. Instead of only responding when you ask, ChatGPT can now run on a schedule by itself: set reminders, handle recurring jobs, or "monitor" the web and connected apps and report back when something noteworthy comes up. This is a step that moves ChatGPT from a question-and-answer assistant into a proactive assistant that does background work on your behalf.

Quick summary

  • When: 17/06/2026, according to OpenAI.
  • What it is: Scheduled Tasks — ChatGPT runs tasks on a schedule by itself, on web and mobile.
  • What it can do: reminders, recurring jobs, and "monitor" tasks for the web + connected apps.
  • Management: a dedicated "Scheduled" page in the sidebar to view, pause/resume, edit and delete.
  • Supported plans: Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, according to OpenAI.

What are Scheduled Tasks?

According to OpenAI, Scheduled Tasks let you hand ChatGPT things to do on a predefined schedule, instead of having to open the app and type the request again each time. There are three main use cases: setting reminders (for example, reminding you to drink water or about a deadline), recurring jobs (for example, summarizing the day's meeting schedule every morning), and "monitor" tasks — ChatGPT searches the web by itself and checks connected apps, only reporting back to you when there's something noteworthy.

The difference from how ChatGPT was used before is that it is proactive: tasks run in the background on a schedule and push results to you, rather than waiting for you to issue a command each time.

The "Scheduled" page to manage tasks

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT has a dedicated "Scheduled" page in the sidebar — where all the tasks you've created are gathered. There you can view the list of tasks, see when the next run is, and carry out pause/resume, edit, delete actions for each task.

Bringing every task into one place helps users keep control of what their assistant is running and when — avoiding the "set it and forget it" problem.

How to set the schedule and run frequency

According to OpenAI, you can schedule a task for a specific time, or for a time window during the day (morning, afternoon, evening). As for frequency, the system limits each task to a maximum of once per hour — meaning a task cannot run more often than once an hour.

Which plans can use it?

According to OpenAI, Scheduled Tasks are rolled out for the Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans.

As for the maximum number of tasks per plan: according to some sources, the limit may be Go 3, Plus 5, Business 10 and Pro 15 — however, these figures need further verification and Namtech has not confirmed them from OpenAI's official documentation. You should check directly in your own account to see the limit that applies to the plan you're using.

Pulse retired, moving to scheduling

Alongside Scheduled Tasks, OpenAI retired Pulse — the personalized daily summary feature — and replaced it with this new scheduling system. According to OpenAI, Pro plan users can still use Pulse for another 14 days before the feature is fully shut down.

In other words, instead of a fixed daily summary, OpenAI is steering users toward configuring their own recurring tasks based on their individual needs — more flexible, but also requiring users to set things up proactively.
